SPEAKING
a comedy by Alan Ayckbourn
Thursday 19th, Friday 20th,
at the Public Hall,
This is one of
Alan Ayckbourn’s earlier plays, first staged in 1967,
and the author admits he wrote it purely to entertain the public.
“Greg and Ginny
are living together, but Greg is becoming somewhat suspicious
that he is not the only man in her life.
He wonders about Ginny’s plan to ‘visit her parents’ and decides to
follow her. In fact he has sound grounds
for his suspicions - Ginny is really going to see a considerably older lover,
but only in order to break with him and retrieve some letters. Chance sees to it that Greg mistakes the
ex-lover and his wife for Ginny’s parents and further confusion arises when her –ex-lover is misled into thinking that Greg is his
wife’s lover and wants to marry her!”
This
play is entered in the Bromley theatre Guild Festival and the adjudication will
be on Thursday 19th February.
The
play is presented under licence to Samuel French Ltd
